​My client, a bespoke engineering business near Truro, is seeking an Assistant buyer to join the expanding operations team. The successful candidate will support the operation of a production facility through procurement of all production materials and related items to ensure stock levels are maintained.

Applicants must be well-organised and structured, possess confidence when dealing with suppliers and liaising with production and stores personnel.

Additionally, previous experience with a buying or administration role with a manufacturing business would be essential

Key duties & responsibilities:

•Handing purchase requests, raising, and maintaining purchase orders

•Timely ordering or parts required

•Working with suppliers to obtain the best prices and lead times

•Working with stores team to make sure that good received are correctly accounted for

•Following up orders with suppliers to maintain a good understanding or order status

•Ensuring suppliers deliver material to meet production demands whilst keeping inventory value below acceptable levels

•Working with suppliers to address quality and delivery problems

Essential experience & qualifications:

•GCSE qualifications C grade and above to include Maths and English

•Previous experience of buying in a technical/manufacturing environment

•Excellent communication skills

•High level of computer literacy

•Great customer service skills over the phone and face-to-face

•Technical understanding of parts and components would be advantageous

•Qualified to CIPD level 3 or willing to undergo training

•Excellent attention to detail

•Strong team player
