My client, a large freight company in Callington, is seeking a Shipping Operative to join their busy, expanding department. Offering a competitive salary, dependent on experience, and an excellent benefits package for the successful applicant.
The Shipping Operative will be responsible for arranging European road and rail freight distribution through management of carriers and hauliers.
Working hours are Monday to Friday 08.30 - 17.00 with a 1 hour break and the position is offered on a full time, permanent basis.
Main tasks:
Investigate and plan appropriate routes for client needs
Liaising with suppliers to ascertain bookings and arrange loadings
Monitor and negotiate costs whilst understanding tariffs
Preparing job files for invoicing, calculating costs and margins prior to submitting quotations to new and existing clients
Maintain customer accounts and gain new business alongside the sales executives
Maintain, update and process cargo related documentation
About you:
The ideal candidate will have experience in road freight operations
Knowledge of UK and European carriers and legislation preferred
Great account management, customer service, communication and IT skills
Analytical with good attention to detail
Benefits:
Starting salary of circa £23,000, negotiable depending on experience
