​Are you a contracts manager with an electrical background looking for your next role in the Southwest? My client, one of the top electrical contractors based in the Plymouth area are looking to recruit a Electrical Contracts Manager to help their expanding team. As a member of the management team, you will oversee all aspects of assigned contracts, across multiple sectors of their business, from conception to completion. You will manage the company’s resources to achieve a successful outcome, technically, commercially, safely and to the clients satisfaction on the project.

This is a permanent full time role with a competitive salary, and you will report to the Electrical Contracts Director. A full job description is available on request.

Key Duties

  • Work alongside the Director to develop professional relationships with existing and new clients.

  • Actively promote the company and the services offered.

  • Management of enquiries and participation in the tender, design, and estimation process.

  • Always maintain effective communication throughout the design and estimation process.

  • Line management of Site Supervisors including coaching and training where needed.

  • Manage contract commercial issues and cost reporting (WIP).

  • Identify the client requirements and ensure we deliver these requirements to the clients’ satisfaction.

  • Represent the company on any internal or external issues including delivery of toolbox talks.

Essential Experience

  • Electrical Contracts Manager with proven Commercial and Industrial managerial experience.

  • Full detailed knowledge of 18th Edition wiring regulations.

  • 5 years of experience of managing or supervising contracts or works to reach completion within budget and timescale.

  • Ability to resolve any technical queries during the contract and familiar with JCT and NEC suite of contracts.

  • Good working knowledge of MS Project – desirable.

  • Computer Aided Design competency (City & Guilds or equivalent) – desirable.

  • City & Guilds (2396) Design, Erection and Verification of Electrical Installations – essential.

  • BTEC: HNC/D (Level 4/5) Electrical Systems Engineering - desirable

  • IOSH Managing safely V5 – desirable.

  • CSCS card – essential.

  • SMSTS course – essential.

About You

  • Experience of managing procurement, labour, and sub-contractors.

  • Experience of preparing monthly applications and have actively participated in any cost recovery exercises where required.

  • Experience of coordinating M&E installation and commissioning.

  • Line management experience.

  • Experience of value engineering projects to create cost savings.

  • Positive, flexible, and pro-active attitude to work with a desire to influence others to adopt a similar attitude.

  • Must be able to remain calm under pressure whilst working to strict deadlines.
