Are you a service technician, large vehicle technician or qualified heavy goods vehicle mechanic looking for your next role in the motor trade? My client, one of the top travel companies based in central Cornwall, is recruiting for an experienced PCV / Large Vehicle Fitter at their head office facility in Camborne.

The successful candidate will be required to work unsupervised and have the ability to confidently carry out routine maintenance, M.O.T preparations and most mechanical repairs on all of their vehicles. Their fleet includes double decker’s, coaches, midi-coaches and minibuses manufactured by a variety of companies including Volvo, Iveco, Mercedes, DAF and Ford.

This is a full time, permanent position that will involve shift and on call work. Salary will be up to £17.00 per hour dependent on experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnosing issues with PCV / HGV parts and vehicle engines.

  • Repairing vehicle engines, gearboxes, and PCV / HGV parts.

  • Test and diagnose engines and parts.

  • Work closely with service desk to provide information regarding repair work needed.

  • Maintain a clean and tidy work environment.

  • Championing and adhering to Health and Safety policies.

Key Skills

  • PCV license desirable but not essential.

  • Level 3 Mechanics essential.

  • Minimum of 3 years diagnostics mechanic experience.

  • Fault finding.

  • Problem solving.

  • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.

  • Willingness to work effectively within a team and ensure industry leading customer service.

  • Strong communication skills to communicate effectively with colleagues.

  • Flexible ‘can do’ attitude.

  • Ability to use own initiative and work under minimum supervision.

  • Full UK Driving Licence.
