My client, one of the top marine engineering companies in Cornwall are seeking a Technician to work out of their head office near Redruth. This is a varied role supporting the fabrication, machine shop and assembly departments. You will be cutting material to size as indicated on drawings and cleaning of material in preparation for the fabricators along with other tasks given to you by the Production Manager.
This is a full time permanent role with immediate start. Salary is from £13 - £15 per hour doe, working 37.5 hours per week 7am to 3pm. Overtime is paid at time and 1/3rd of hourly rate.
The Role
Deburring material after it has been machined.
Drilling holes using hand drills & pillar drills.
Assembling equipment within production.
Assisting with the maintenance of the machine shop XYZ machines.
Supporting the assembly department with the service of returned offshore rental equipment.
Use of grinders and other hand tools.
Welding not essential, but experience of MIG/TIG welding is a bonus.
Putting stock away, general workshop tasks and housekeeping.
Key Skills
Metal fabrication workshop experience.
Use of grinders / band saw / pillar drill / hand power tools.
Attention to detail and skilled at using a measuring tape to accurately mark, cut and drill.
Working from cutting lists and interpreting technical drawings.
Ability to confidently work individually and within a team.
Desire to learn and continually improve your knowledge.
Forklift experience with license and experience in use of lifting equipment including overhead crane hoist.
