​​Are you a mechanical fitter and fabricator looking for you next role in the marine industry? My client, one of the top marine engineering companies in Cornwall are seeking a Mechanical Fitter / Fabricator to work out of their head office near Redruth. This varied role will involve welding and fabrication of bespoke equipment and components to a high level of accuracy on a day-to-day basis, and assisting with equipment assembly and servicing. There may be occasional requirements to assist with project mobilisations offsite onboard vessel as well.

The successful candidate will need to be self-motivated and capable of managing their time and resources effectively in order to meet product and project deadlines. This is a full time permanent role working a 37.5 hour week. Salary is negotiable on experience + offshore premium, overtime paid at 1/3 extra hourly rate. Key Tasks

  • Ability to understand weld symbols and engineering drawings to fabricate or assemble items.

  • Experience of welding/fabricating precision components using MIG/MAG (Pulse) and TIG techniques.

  • Working with and welding/fabricating items from various grades of mild and stainless steels plus aluminium.

  • Competent at working with hand tools plus cutting and drilling equipment (Band saw, grinders, drills, torches etc.)

  • Experience of using assembly drawings to identify required components of correct grade and fitment.

Essential Skill

  • Minimum 3 years experience of working within the offshore industry.

  • Willingness to travel globally, with valid passport (with at least 12 months on it) and full driving license.

  • Happy to work away from home for extended periods of time.

  • A positive, confident, and determined approach to work with a high degree of self-motivation and ambition.

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a safe manner inline with H&S/COSSH principles.

About You

  • Good time management.

  • Capable of working in a team or on their own.

  • Highly motivated.

  • Offshore engineering experience.

  • Previous weld coding certification.

  • Valid BOSIET qualification and OGUK medial cert or similar.
